before you go. Temecula is the only true wine growing area in the South Coast Region. San Diego County has a few other wineries in the cities of Escondido and Rancho Bernardo and Orange County has two wineries. However, the Temecula area is where the bulk of the wine in Southern California is produced. Temecula lies just off Hwy 15 between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is approximately 80 miles from Los Angeles and 50 miles from San Diego. To get to the wineries, exit Hwy 15 at either Hwy 79 or Rancho San Diego Rd. From Hwy 79, turn left on Anza and right on De Portola Rd. This route is called the De Portola Wine Trail. Here is the Temecula Wine Country Map for you to reference.
